During the French and Indian War the French and Indians allied against the British. France and England fought over the Ohio River Valley because they both had fur trade with the Indians. George Washington commanded the British troops. At first the British suffer losses because French destroyed many forts around Lake Ontario and Lake George. The Indians supported the French by attacking the frontiers, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The Indians accepted this alliance because they could have the opportunity to take revenge against the once who took their lands.
1758-1759 the war shifted in favor of England .British blocked the French shipment. This caused that the Indians abandon the French. This allowed the British to capture several French forts that protected the entrance to the St. Lawrence River.
In 1759 the British capture Quebec. When they captured  Montreal, they force the French governor general to surrender the rest of Canada including the forts around the Great Lakes taking all and winning the war.
1763- The treaty of Paris ended the war triumphantly for the Brits who kept Canada, Great Lakes county and Florida. The Mississippi became the boundary between the British claims, the French claims, and some of the Spanish claims.
